History
Ebac was founded in the UK in 1972 and are now world leaders in watercooler & dehumidifier design and technology.
Chairman and founder John Elliott MBE DL, was born near Bishop Auckland in 1943. A draftsman by trade, John entered into self-employment in the early 70s and won a contract to produce industrial dehumidifiers for a national construction group. The dehumidifier order led to Ebac’s foundation, with John as its only member of staff, back in 1973. His dedication and drive soon saw it grow and seven years later it reached its first £1M turn-over.
One year later, in 1980, John developed the UK’s first mass-produced domestic dehumidifier, which effectively created the British market for this product type, and the company blossomed. Over 1,000,000 households in the UK now benefit from using an Ebac dehumidifier on a daily basis.
Staying true to his roots John has never considered following the UK manufacturing trend and move Ebac’s production abroad. With innovation and dedication to quality as its lead words, Ebac has instead been able to expand its facilities in the UK’s North East. John’s part in this success was formally recognised in 1986 when he was awarded an MBE for Services to Small Business.
In 1994 Ebac branched into the commercial watercooler industry. Intensive market research and commitment to customer satisfaction, has driven a continual development of products, at the forefront of watercooler technology. We pride ourselves on four main areas - Quality, Innovation, Technology and Customer service. Ebac is a British success story, beating competition from around the globe to secure our position as Europe’s leading watercooler manufacturer.
If you have used a watercooler at work or at the gym then there is a very good chance that it is made by Ebac!
