Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why do I need a SlimCool™ Home Filtered Watercooler?
A: There are many answers to this question such as having a constant supply of great-tasting chilled water for at fraction of the cost of bottled water. However, the one over-riding reason is because the SlimCool™ Home Filtered Watercooler will encourage you and your family to drink more water, which will help to maintain healthy bodies and active minds.

Q: How does the SlimCool™ Home Filtered Watercooler work?
A: Tap water in the water tank passes through the Brita MAXTRA cartridge filter, which removes cholrine, limescale and other impurities. It then passes and down into the Cassette WaterTrail™, at the heart of the cooler, where it is chilled by the same sort of cooling technology that your fridge uses, only on a smaller scale. From there it’s just a case of pressing the dispense lever - one finger is all it takes - and enjoying a glass of cool, clean, clear water.

Q: How often should I change my Brita MAXTRA cartidge?
A: To ensure optimum filtration we recommend that you change the cartridge every month.

Q: How often should I change my Cassette WaterTrail™?
A: To maintain hygiene and to avoid unnecessary cleaning we recommend that you change the Cassette WaterTrail™ every six months.

Q: Will the SlimCool™ Home Filtered Watercooler save me money?
A: If you buy bottled water all of the time then you will soon start saving money. We estimate over £100 in the first year and much more after that.

Q: Is tap water safe?
A: Tap water is perfectly safe to drink. In fact the regulations on tap water often much stricter than on bottled water. The issue is that tap water often does not taste good due to chlorine, limescale and heavy metals. Limescale also effects the performance and lifespan of appliances like kettles and irons and your houseplants don’t like it much either.

Q: How much water should I be drinking?
A: The recommended daily amount of water is 2 litres per day, (6-8 glasses), yet few of us drink this amount. This will help to ward off physical tiredness, maintain mental alertness and give a general sense of well-being.

Q: Why do I need to drink so much water?
A: Almost two thirds of our body weight is made of water. It is the most essential nutrient in our bodies; required to transport oxygen and other nutrients, as well as removing waste products and toxins. If we loose more than 3% of our water content we become dehydrated - loose 20% of our water and the likelihood is we will no longer be alive. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic maths, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page.

Q: How can I increase the amount of water I drink?
A: Try drinking a glass of water first thing in the morning and another one before going to bed. Your body looses a lot of water whilst you sleep and this will help you to wake refreshed and give you a boost to start the day. Also don’t wait until you feel thirsty, as this is a sign that you are already dehydrated.
